An owl biþ a fowel wyþ two leggys, and two wyngys, and a gret heved. Oulys flien a niȝte and ſleepen a daȝe. Þai hauen muchle eȝen for þe nones, þe whilch arn to grete to whirlen in þet owlys skolle. Hennes ys engendryd þis fowlys sellichest abilyte: þe owle conne turnen his hevde aboute þat it lokiþ athinden yt, al with his sweere and reſtende hys bodi vnwend.
