Incubator:Requests for deletion

From Incubator Plus 2.0
This is an official Incubator Plus 2.0 policy.
You may edit it, but please discuss major changes on the talk page first.

On Incubator Plus, most deletion requests are speedy deletion requests. Criteria for speedy deletion are effectively the same as on Wikimedia Incubator, and can be found here. Pages that should be speedily deleted should be tagged with {{delete}} with a proper reason and the requester's signature.

This page is for requesting all deletions that are not eligible for speedy deletion. These include:

  • Requests to delete large numbers of pages, including requests to delete entire test projects.
  • Requests to delete pages related to the maintenance of Incubator Plus, when the request is not eligible for speedy deletion.
  • Discussions of deletions where someone has objected to a speedy deletion.

For discussing the deletion of pages in a specific test project, please use the relevant talk pages where the editors of the test wiki are most active in to discuss them (such as the talk page of the test wiki's main page).

Speedy deletion[edit]

  • Please see I:CSD for criteria and procedures. Normally you just need to tag a page with {{delete|reason ~~~~ }} and the page will be deleted.

Standard deletion (and undeletion)[edit]

Other requests for deleting single pages[edit]

  • To request deletion of single pages where speedy deletion does not apply, simply put a request below.

Requests for bulk deletions, including entire tests[edit]

  1. In many cases, if you want large numbers of pages deleted, even if they are eligible for speedy deletion, it may be faster to make that request here.
  2. You can propose a deletion of an entire test project. The main reasons one might do that include:
    • The test community decides it wants the test moved somewhere else (and says where it wants the test to move).
    • The only contributor(s) to the test want the test deleted. (That means all contributors historically, so if there are more than 1–2 contributors, and/or if the test has a long history, this is pretty unlikely.)
    • The test is out of scope. This means that its purpose is not the creation of a general encyclopedia, dictionary, etc., that is substantially neutral in its approach to content—in general the same purposes as for the corresponding Wikimedia projects.
Incubator Plus differs from Wikimedia projects in that there are no real rules about what languages are allowed. In fact, really the only rule in that regard is that we do not intend to host projects that materially duplicate Wikimedia projects. So, for example, while Incubator Plus might be willing to host a project for an Italian encyclopedia written in Cyrillic, provided that it remains general and neutral, it is not willing to host a "competing" general-purpose Italian encyclopedia written normally in Italian.
    • The entire test is eligible for speedy deletion.

Requests for undeletions[edit]

  • All requests for deleted pages to be restored can be added below, as well.

Procedures for standard deletions and undeletions[edit]

  1. All requests here should include reasoning and a signature (~~~~). Requests without reasoning will be removed.
  2. Requests generally stay open for 10 days, unless some or all of the request qualifies for speedy deletion. During the ten days, all contributors here are invited to comment on the request.
    • You can vote, but votes have just a little bit of influence. Arguments and reasoning are better.
    • After 10 days, an administrator will make a decision about the deletion request.
  3. If content is deleted, and it is otherwise appropriate, content can be exported to an XML file.
